CONTROLLED FURNACE COOL DOWN
& CONTRACTION CONTROL
The nature of the glass melting process puts immense pressure on the furnace, with increasing production demands. Hence, the uneven wear and tear of the various Refractories is inevitable. This is why regular and partial repairs are required throughout the life of the furnace.
So how can we retain the integrity of the Refractories that need repair? At HAL, we ensure this by reversing the Heat-up procedure while maintaining a steady and controlled cool down, following a smooth takeover from the furnace firing system. When the temperature is below 100°C, the burner system is switched off while the combustion air fan is left whirling in order to gradually cool the furnace down.
